Tom's Girlfriends

kitten 1 Tom's loves changed quite a bit from 1940-1957. Here in a 1944 shot from "Zoot Cat", we see the young jitterbugging kitten. The music reflects the scene where Tom talks in his Charles Boyer voice.
toodles In 1946's "Springtime For Thomas" we meet Toodles for the first time. She is in several episode through the early 50's including:
  • Springtime For Thomas
  • Solid Seranade
  • Salt Water Tabby
  • Casanova Cat
lana turner Lana Turner was in a film called "Weekend at the Waldorf" she played a character named Bunny and Bunny was the inspiration for Toodles. Here's a picture depicting the two. I read it in "The Films of Lana Turner" - By: Lou Valentino. An excellent book if you are a Lana fan
late kitten By the mid 50's Tom's girlfriends have changed again... for the worse. In this scene from "Muscle Beach Tom" note the heavy outline and lack of detail.  This is par for the course in many later 50's films.
